It doesn't get much brighter than this does it! Its making things like this that genuinely just bring joy to my life and show me why I love to sew. This gorgeous little dress was on my make nine this year, and so in keeping with Children's week on The Great British Sewing Bee it was the perfect time to sew it up. Its also been an amazingly sunny week here in the UK for Feb so what better time to add even more sunshine to your day. Read on for more gorgeous pics of this dress, pattern details and a list of current rainbow jersey stockists...
I used all three of my machines to stitch this dress; overlocker for my seams, regular machine for the skirt gathers and coverstitch for the hems and binding. It's definitely overkill for this kind of sew but I just love the professional finish that I can achieve with the coverstitch, it just gives me the happies. Just look at those stitches (insert drooling emoji here).
I always get a lot of comments when I put pics of a rainbow jersey on instagram about where I purchased it from. The truth is that I tend to snap up a meter of the stuff whenever I see it cross my path (this evening has been no exception!) and so this version has been in my stash for well over a year and is sadly no longer available, but was originally from Caboodle Textiles.
But fear not, I wouldn't want to let you down; what I have done is do a bit of searching for you and below is a few sites which are currently stocking rainbow jersey:
Lilli and Mimi have some lovely stripes, I especially like the one that's on sale
Caboodle textiles also have some other rainbow stripes in stock
I found this from Jazzy Jersey UK on Etsy though looks like it might be ribbed?
This is a gorgeous non pink rainbow, would be gorgeous for boys, or girls that are less into pink
And if you are really desperate you could also try buying from Lilofant direct in Sweden. I have never tried so am not sure on shipping and times etc, but have never had issues buying from the EU before.
I hope this post gave you as much joy as it did for me, this dress genuinely just makes me happy.
What has been your happiest or proudest make? What have you made lately that just makes you smile? I would love to hear about it, spread the joy a bit and send me a link.
And finally, just in case there hadn't been enough rainbow for you, here is one last pic of me and mini me blending in to one, because who doesn't want to look like a crazy family walking down the street <3
